Sizing & Shapes
I offer several sizes of pads and several shapes, so you should be able to find a style and length that suits you.
I've named the sizes unconventional sizing names because terms like "Small" and "Long" depend on how an individual customer considers those terms to mean. I also offer G-string/Thong pantyliners in a range of sizes. My pad sizing is:
Approx pad sizes:
Mini - 16cm (6.25") long, 6cm (2.37") when snapped
Nymph - 20cm (8") long, 6cm (2.37") when snapped
Maiden - 26cm long (10.25"), 7cm (2.75") when snapped
Hybrid - 30cm long (12"), 7cm (2.75") when snapped
Priestess - 33cm long (13"), 7cm (2.75") when snapped
Goddess - 39cm long (15.37"), 7cm (2.75") when snapped
Goddess Night - 42cm (16.5") long, 7cm (2.75") when snapped
(Some pad sizes only available at my online store)
If you would like an additional snap setting on a pad, please let me
know (no charge). Not all styles suit an extra snap setting though (the mini's for example), but
I'm happy to discuss this. Some of my overlocked (Serged) Maiden pads can snap to both 7cm and 8cm (3.12")
Absorbency & Layers
I attach a label to the underside of the pads to indicate the level of absorbency. Which makes it easier for you to tell which pads are which. As a general rule I consider one layer bamboo/hemp (fleece/terry) to be "Light", 2 layers are "Medium" and 3 is "Heavy". Reversible pantyliners/pads have no labels. Most of my pads have PUL waterproofing. Medium absorbency pads without PUL have an "No PUL" label. (Older pads used the format of "L" for "Light", "M" for "Medium" and "H" for "Heavy").
I offer 2 grades of pantyliner, "everyday" and "deluxe". The Everyday pantyliner is thinner (often 3 layers flannelette or one of bamboo fleece) and suitable for everyday use, discharge, light spotting, after sex etc. The Deluxe pantyliner has an additional core sewn in, and is suitable for light menstrual flow, mild stress incontinence and the same uses as the everyday pantyliner. Pantyliners with PUL are sometimes available.
Not sure of what thickness you need? If you want a pad for light flow or spotting, then choose "light" or a pantyliner. A pad for use through most of your period could be "medium". For the heavy days, a heavy flow, post partum or mild incontinence, you would need "heavy" absorbency.
Pad Construction
I use both "Turn and Topstitch" and "Overlocking/Serging" techniques to sew my pads. Turned and Topstitched pads are those with a rounded edge with one line of stitching. These are made "inside out" and turned out the right way so that the seams are inside the pad. When making this form of pad, I triple stitch the seams (One row of straight stitching, one layer of zigzag to help prevent fraying, then the top stitch for stability and neatness). Overlocked pads are the ones with stitching all around the edges, and are done with a 4 thread overlocker for extra durability.
Generally to make the pad feel as thin as possible, the core layers are cut so that they run through the main body of the pad but not into the wing, which allows the wing to fold without excess bulk. The core layers are cut in graduating sizes to create a softer less bumpy feeling core, while still maintaining the thickness through the centre of the pad where it is needed. The core is sewn onto a full layer of flannelette, which secures the layers, to help prevent bunching inside the pad, and to give a layer of absorbency through the wing section. Non-waterproofed pads may be sewn with a full layer of hemp/bamboo for extra absorbency.
3 Month Sewing Guarantee
I'm confident that you will not have any problems due to sewing errors in your pads, however if a problem was to occur it would generally happen the first time it was washed. Problems could include the core bunching up inside the pad, stitching coming loose or a section of the top or bottom fabric coming away at the seams. If your pads have a problem such as this (Related to the sewing of your pads) within the first 3 months of use, you may send the pad back to me and I will repair it free of charge. (If such a problem occurs please notify me first to arrange this). This does not cover wear and tear, staining or any other problems other than that of workmanship/sewing.
Returns
Sizing information is provided to help you work out if the pad is the right shape and size for you. Due to the personal nature of these products, cloth pads cannot be returned for reasons of change of mind or incorrect fitting.
